a happy dance

Watch this. It's pretty entertaining.

(he's filling in the foundation wall with roks and dirt, which have to be packed down...and he likes to dance)

while the daddies work

While Gabriel and Micah were hard at work in the living room, Liam and Simone kept Crystal and I busy.

When the rain finally let up for a short window of time, we took them into the backyard to visit with the chicks, and they came in pretty muddy. Crystal handled it well :-)

Simone borrowed one of Liam's outfits, and she looked lovely in it, too.

Liam showed her one of his favorite things: turning on the mobile from Grandma and Grandpa Hall (It's the first thing he does when he wakes up, which buys me more time before he starts wailing for me to come get him).

story time

Going for a ride. Liam has his biker sneer on:

the Halls must be crazy

Once upon a time, our living room looked like this:
And then we decided it realy needed a woodstove So, we (meaning Gabriel and Micah) took out the window and a big chunk of the wall:
The woodstove will sit in its own niche in the wall, complete with foundation.
with a freshly poured (and cantilevered) concrete slab for the hearth.
it was very messy

At the moment, Gabriel is working on framing the chimney and closing the big whole in the wall. It's been pretty cold in here.
I am looking forward to the day I can relax in front of the warm and cozy fire with a cup of tea in one hand and a book in the other... This image is getting me through the mess I call a living room.
More pictures soon.

so much to say

It seems that the times when I have the most things to blog about, I'm too busy to blog...
This has been the story the last week or so. Last week was warm (80's) and sunny, so we spent a lot of time working in the garden.

Here's Liam enjoying the warm weather and the wind with his first popsicle:

Of course, since this is spring in Arkansas, the weather is fickle. We're back to cool 50's and continuous drizzles.

Check out my blog to see why we knocked a gigantic hole in our wall this past weekend.
